Microsoft 365 price increases for nonprofit customers in September 2022

Microsoft is increasing the price of 5 Microsoft 365 nonprofit products on 1st September 2022.

  • Microsoft Office 365 E1: from $2.00 to $2.50

  • Microsoft Office 365 E3: from $4.50 to $5.75

  • Microsoft Office 365 E5: from $14.00 to $15.20

  • Microsoft 365 E3: from $8.00 to $9.00

  • Microsoft 365 Business Premium: from $5.00 to $5.50

There is no price increase for Microsoft 365 E5 which makes this product even more cost-effective.

These changes apply globally and we don’t yet have the increased pricing for other markets yet but you can expect a similar uplift elsewhere.

This does not affect the nonprofit grant offers for 10 licenses of Microsoft 365 Business Premium or the 300 licenses of Microsoft 365 Business Basic.

This does still represent a discount of up to 75% compared to the commercial pricing.

In addition, the following apply from March 2022.

  • Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Plan 1 is now included natively in Microsoft 365 E3

  • Microsoft Defender for Business is now included natively in Microsoft 365 Business Premium

As part of the announcement, Microsoft also announced the end of the on-premises grant program as part of its “cloud-first” grant program.

Ahead of the April 4th updates to our on-prem grant program we sought to provide nonprofit customers with enough time to transition to the cloud and lock in existing Microsoft 365 nonprofit prices. With this in mind, we delayed this price increase by 6 months from the commercial price changes to give nonprofits enough time to make the transition.

Whilst nobody likes price increases we think that these products will still represent excellent value for money for nonprofits.
